Julie Elkins

Julie Elkins

A native of southwest Montana with family roots in the hills of Kentucky, Julie comes from a long line of musicians and singers. A champion banjo player since age 9, she started singing when she was 14 and learned her first song to sing for her mother, as a Mother's Day present. Now living in Raleigh, North Carolina, Julie makes her living as a professional musician, currently performing regularly with Kane's River, appearing on numerous recordings and teaching banjo, guitar and vocals. Her musical influences range from Earl Scruggs and James Taylor to Aretha Franklin and George Jones - you'll hear a little bit of each of them on "My Feet Won't Miss This Ground."
